        Earnings Cycle

        Earnings activity is aggregated at the sector level based on the underlying holdings of State Street Sector ETFs.

        To ensure comparability across companies with different fiscal year-ends, earnings are mapped to a standardized calendar-based earnings cycle. Each reporting event is assigned to a calendar period based on its fiscal quarter-end month, allowing earnings activity to be analyzed on a consistent timeline across sectors. This mapping reclassifies reporting periods without altering the underlying data.

        Sector-level metrics are calculated using two complementary approaches, based on companies excluding cash positions and derivative instruments:

        • Company Count, measured as the percentage of companies covered based on reporting dates relative to the total number of holdings.
        • Weighted coverage, measured as the percentage of total sector weight represented by companies covered based on reporting dates

        This approach captures both the breadth and the market impact of earnings activity throughout the reporting cycle.
