    Stefano is an ESG research and data analyst at State Street Global Advisors. He is currently working on maintaining SSGA's ESG data architecture, as well as creating new sustainable investment strategies and ESG models.

    Prior to joining State Street Global Advisors in 2017, Mr. Maffina was a Research Associate at Calvert Investments and Calvert Research and Management (Washington, D.C.). While at Calvert he conducted sustainability research, developed carbon footprinting models to analyze Calvert's portfolios, planned strategies to improve the financial and environmental performances of the company's funds, identified and contacted shareholder engagement targets, and spearheaded the creation of a new low-carbon investment product.Before joining Calvert, Mr. Maffina worked for the insurance team of the sustainability advocacy NGO Ceres. Previously, he was employed by Tessolar, a Massachusetts-based renewable consulting startup, and was a market and industry Analyst for a multinational chemical company in Europe.

    MBA from the University of Massachusetts Boston, BA and MA from the University of Verona. He has published reports on carbon footprinting, and the relationship between environmental initiatives and financial benefits.
