Volatility continues to ravage current markets. And yet globally, investors who have ETFs in their investment portfolios are more likely to be optimistic about their financial future (81%) than investors who do not (71%).

Globally, 65% of ETF investors say that they are comfortable with the highs and lows of the financial markets, versus investors without ETFs (41%).

But are investors sticking to their long-term investment strategies — despite their growing list of financial concerns?

Investors’ Priorities and Portfolio Preferences

For ETF investors, nearly three-quarters say that these core building blocks have improved the overall performance of their portfolio — and more than two-thirds say that ETFs have made them better investors.

About the Survey

State Street Global Advisors, in partnership with Prodege and A2B, conducted a study surveying more than 1,000 individual investors, including participants from the following regions:

All data was collected between November 30 and December 12, 2022.

In addition to analyzing those with IA totaling $250K+, we conducted a generational analysis and compared advised to self-directed. Only statistically significant differences are noted throughout.

Due to the smaller sample size, only Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers are included in the generational analysis.
