        Dane Smith is a Managing Director and Head of Investment Strategy and Research in North America for State Street Investment Management. In this role, he leads a team that partners across investment and client-facing organizations to identify market themes, conduct research and design custom multi-asset class solutions. His analyses and research encompass global macro, strategic and tactical asset allocation, exposure management and tail risk solutions.

        Previously, Dane was a member of the firm’s Investment Solutions Group (ISG) as well as the Alternative Investments team where he was responsible for investment management, research, and product development. Dane’s first role with the firm was in consultant relations as a product analyst. Before joining State Street Investment Management in 2007, Dane worked in client management at Investors Bank and Trust and served as the Deputy Finance Director to a senior U.S. Senator.

        Dane holds a Master of Business Administration from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Providence College, RI.
