Despite an investment market dominated by the tragic events in Ukraine, we maintain our long-term focus – particularly in the area of climate. To help investors take an active stance on climate change, we have launched a suite of Climate Paris Aligned ETFs spanning World, US, Europe and Japan.
SPDR has launched a suite Climate Paris Aligned broad equity ETFs, partnering with MSCI to create exposures for World, US, Europe and Japan. We recognise the requirements and demands from investors to decarbonise their portfolios and these ETFs are designed to meet investors’ climate objectives now and over time swiftly, effectively and cost efficiently*.
Paris Aligned Benchmarks (PAB) were first introduced by the European Commission in 2019 as tools to accompany the transition to a low carbon economy and limit the global temperature increase to 1.5oC, as targeted by the Paris Agreement. These indices seek to overweight companies on a credible decarbonisation path or those offering green solutions, while reducing exposure to companies that are poorly positioned for transition, thus limiting exposure to physical risks.
The MSCI range of Climate Paris Aligned indices adopt all of the PAB objectives and, using their Climate Value-at-Risk model, target a reduction of the carbon footprint from the broad equity parent indices by 10% year on year.
